Eikon: A Library of The Saints

Maps are one of my core passions. But I also have a deep interest in art, history, and the church. In my spare time I’ve been tinkering with an idea to build an interactive, searchable library of iconography. Some recent downtime provided just the right opportunity to bring it to life.

Icons are a big deal to the church. To the faithful, these images represent windows to heaven itself. And there are thousands of them, painted, carved, and made over several centuries. To learn more about them, I needed a library to organize them and allow me to filter, learn more, and explore them in detail.

And what I build for me, I like to share for others.

If this is your sort of thing as well, you might enjoy it. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
