Mark one color as the midpoint (). Lightness changes linearly from the start to the midpoint, then back to the start's lightness at the end.

Lightness (OKLab L) by position
Use the curve buttons to bend the whole lightness curve, or drag the dots up or down (or focus one and use the arrow keys) to adjust each step's lightness.
Export
A continuous ramp made of 17 colors joined by CIELAB segments, so lightness stays linear in ArcGIS Pro. To use it in Pro, open Catalog → Styles, right-click and choose Add → Add Style, then pick this file. The ramp then appears in the Symbology pane's color scheme list (turn on Show names and Show all).
A gradient color ramp with 33 stops. In QGIS, open Settings → Style Manager, choose Import/Export → Import Item(s), pick this file, select the ramp and click Import. It then appears in every color ramp menu.
One row per step (value, R, G, B, A), with data values spaced evenly from min to max. No-data pixels (nv) get the min color. Use it with gdaldem color-relief input.tif ramp.txt output.tif -alpha. GDAL blends between rows; add -exact_color_entry or -nearest_color_entry for classed colors.

Each axis runs from the both-low color to its high color in the chosen interpolation space, with its lightness corrected to change evenly. Every other cell combines the two axes' offsets from the both-low color in OKLab: the top-right cell carries both. Set Both high to choose that corner yourself; the grid then blends between all four corners.

A bivariate color scheme for ArcGIS Pro's Bivariate Colors symbology. Add the file under Catalog → Styles → Add Style, choose Bivariate Colors with the same grid size, and pick the scheme from the color scheme menu.
For the Bivariate QGIS Plugin: in its tools, choose Custom / Staridas import as the palette, set the same grid size, and paste these lines. Letters are X classes (A is low) and numbers are Y classes (1 is low).

Both have a transparent background. Text and ticks follow the site theme: light in dark mode, dark in light mode. The PNG is drawn at 3× the preview’s size.
